January brings the snow? Yes .....but inland!

"January brings the snow, makes your feet and fingers glow"

I think the 'glow' in the old rhyme refers to that painful tingling when fingers and toes begin to return to warmth after becoming very cold . That feeling you got when coming indoors after clearing snow and ice. I grew up in the North of England and I remember this feeling well. The photo shows a January sky as seen from our terrace at sunset.

Every site is different

Would you like a garden of Mediterranean fruits, flowers and shrubs? And include favourites from temperate climates? Or do you want to live in or near an orchard of oranges, almonds, olives or even beside a vineyard?
Remember that every plot of land has its own particular climate. You need to work out when the sun reaches a location and at what times of day through the year before you buy. In a mountainous country you want to be sure that you do not live on the wrong side of the hill. Sunlight is more important to you in the winter than the summer both inside and outside the house.

Everything you need for house, garden, terrace and table is available nearby: bricolage and hardware stores, garden centres, tiles and building materials, bathroom fittings and supermarkets, flea and fruit markets.
For leisure time there is a maze of clubs from computing to bridge, tai chi to archery, plus internet and satellite television from competing suppliers and, best of all, the long bright days to play tennis, golf, sail, walk, do the garden, DIY, or whatever you fancy.
